Rab Mulholland BSc MBA MSc.
A greybeard.
Rab is a card-carrying baby boomer who still finds it faintly suspicious that your car can email you, but is also the first to lean in and ask, “Right: so how exactly does that work?”
He writes at the intersection of the generational-acceptance of online trust and the rise and prevalence of AI on public-facing platforms, which conspire to drive the covert suppression of free speech and freedom of expression. Are we sleepwalking into a world where everyone has to act and think the same?
Rab is quietly astonished by how young people can maintain whole social lives while physically fused to a small rectangle of glass. (He is not judging. He is observing whilst occasionally squinting.)
The episodic series of novellas, 2084: An AI Dystopia, is not an attack on technology, the internet, the application and use of AI, or anyone under 30.
Rab’s working theory is simple: the future won’t arrive with fanfare. It will arrive via an update, quietly accepted by default at 2:14 a.m., and nobody will have read the Terms & Conditions or the Change log.
He lives in the real world but keeps an eye on the digital one: mostly because everyone else seems to be moving in.
